Southern Miss Hosts Cincinnati and Louisville in Weekend Series
Lady Eagles try to snap five-match losing streak |
Southern Miss is coming off a 3-2 loss to Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday. In that match, four Lady Eagles posted double-digit kills. Amanda Blunck recorded a career-high 17 kills to go with 26 digs, Amy Truong registered her fourth triple-double with 10 kills, 52 assists and 14 digs. Jazzmien Stephens had 13 kills, and Nicole Rock added 12. Cassie Conley recorded a career-high 21 digs.
Stephens continues to lead the team in kills with 199. Morgan Johnson, Amy Truong and Rock also have recorded 100 or more kills on the season. Blunck leads the team in digs with 285, and Truong also has over 200 digs with 230. Stephens leads the team in total blocks with 89.
Cincinnati is 16-8, following a 3-2 loss to Saint Louis. In that match, Julie DuPont recorded a team-high 25 kills to go with 17 digs and seven blocks. DuPont leads the team with 432 kills and 273 digs. Myanna Hellsten leads the team in total blocks with 111.
This is the 22nd meeting between the two teams, and Cincinnati leads the series, 19-2.
Louisville is 18-2, 8-0 in league play, following a 3-0 win over Memphis. In that match, Lena Ustymekno had nine kills, two blocks and two aces, keeping the Cardinals undefeated in C-USA play. Ustymenko leads the team in kills and aces, while Anastasia Yartseva leads the team in digs.
This is the 27th meeting between the two schools, and Louisville leads the series 25-1.
Following the weekend matches, Southern Miss hits the road for its final matches at DePaul (11/5) and Marquette (11/6), before returning home to face USF (11/12) and UAB (11/13) in the final matches of the season.
