Southern Miss sophomore quarterback Damion Carter made his third career start at quarterback today, completing 5-of-20 passes for 16 yards and in interception. Carter, who played in five games and made two starts last season, was the starter for last year?s
Southern Miss finished with 23 passing yards tonight, its lowest since matching 23 yards against

Southern Miss sophomore defensive end Matthew Chatelain made his first start as a Golden Eagle today. Junior punter Luke Johnson also held on all extra points and field goals today, the first time he has done so in a Golden Eagle uniform.
Junior wide receiver Antwon Courington caught an eight-yard pass from Damion Carter in the first quarter, and has now caught a pass in 15 consecutive games. Senior DaRon Lawrence caught a 12-yard pass today, extending his games with a catch streak to 11.
Senior wide receivers Marvin Young saw his 13 games with a catch streak snapped tonight.
Freshman wide receiver Tavarres Williams saw his first action in a Golden Eagle uniform today. Freshman Jeremy Young also saw action at quarterback today, the first time he has been in a game in his career. Young completed 1-of-3 passes for seven yards.
Sophomore kicker Darren McCaleb connected on a 37-yard field goal in the second quarter today. He has now 8-of-8 in field goal attempts on the year.

For the second consecutive game, Southern Miss lost the coin toss in today?s game, receiving the ball on offense first. Southern Miss had previously won its first three coin tosses of the season and deferred all three to the second half.
Junior defensive back Trevis Coley recorded an interception in the fourth quarter today, his second of the season. Coley now has five interceptions in his career. It was the 10th interception of the season for the Southern Miss defense.
Senior offensive lineman Myron Powe lined up at tight-end for the first time in his career today.
Junior kickoff returner John Eubanks had his second career punt return today, a three-yard return in the second quarter.
Freshman Larry Thomas saw action at the running back position for the second time in his career today. Thomas finished with seven carries for 49 yards, the highest total of his career.
Crimson Tide running back Kenneth Darby finished with 197 rushing yards today, the fourth highest total in Southern Miss opponent history, bettered only by Auburn?s Bo Jackson (205, 9-15-85), Indiana?s Alex Smith (209, 9-23-95) and Houston?s Antowain Smith (231, 11-9-96).
