Lady Eagle Volleyball Swept By Tulane
NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Tulane used a balanced attack with three players registering double-figure kills to hand Southern Miss its fifth-straight loss in Conference USA play, 3-0, Saturday evening at Fogelman Arena.
The Green Wave (11-4, 2-2 C-USA) made quick work of the Lady Eagles (5-12, 0-5 C-USA), winning in straight games, 30-20, 30-17, 30-23.
Deva Fowler had 17 kills and three blocks to lead the Green Wave and got some help from Anastasia Kenon, who posted a double-double with 14 kills and a team-best 15 digs. Blair Moon finished with 10 kills and eight digs, giving the hosts three players with double-figure kills.
Leslie Robertson led the Golden Eagles with eight kills, while Amy Truong and Nicole Rock were next with four each. Libero Amanda Blunck paced Southern Miss with 15 digs, and Truong and Kaitlyn Deutsch were close behind with seven apiece.
The Tulane offense hit a solid .372 with 55 kills and just 13 errors in 113 swings while the defense limited Southern Miss to a .129 attack percentage with 34 kills and 19 errors in 116 attempts. Fowler led all players with a .696 clip after having just one miscue in 23 swings, and Moon was close behind with a .667 mark with no errors in 15 tries.
Southern Miss returns to action, Tuesday, Oct. 19, when it hosts Mississippi State in a non-conference match at the Southern Miss Payne Center.
