Southern Miss Concludes Homestand HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss Lady Eagle volleyball team steps out of Conference USA play on Tuesday, Oct. 12, when they host South Alabama. Match time is set for 7 p.m. Southern Miss is coming off a 3-1 loss to C-USA opponent Saint Louis. In that match, Cassie Conley and Jazzmien Stephens recorded 13 kills each. Amy Truong posted her second-straight triple-double with 12 kills, 25 assists and 13 digs. Conley also had nine blocks, and Amanda Blunck added 13 digs. The Lady Eagles have three players with over 100 kills, led by Stephens with 153, Morgan Johnson has 106 and Leslie VanDuinen has 103. Blunck continues to lead the team in digs with 189, with Truong close behind with 172. South Alabama comes in with a 1-11 record, following a 3-0 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette. Jenna Swilley, Whitney Sanders and Morgan Flarity recorded seven kills each. Kim Courchesne had 12 digs. This is the 36th meeting between the two teams. Southern Miss won the first meeting between the two teams on Sept. 11, in the Ashbury Classic. USA leads the overall series, 21-14. Following the South Alabama match, Southern Miss returns to conference play, traveling to Tulane on Oct. 16. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
