Southern Miss Volleyball Posts Fifth Win of Season
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Southern Miss Lady Eagle volleyball team picked up their fifth win of the season, defeating Austin Peay in four games, 30-25, 24-30, 30-18, 30-22, in the Mississippi State Tournament Friday evening.
Seniors Nicki Tribble and Andrea Bush led Southern Miss with 18 and 17 kills, respectively, while Bridget Files added 12 kills. Bush also recorded five service aces, accounting for 5.5 points per game. Amy Walk registered 10 kills for Austin Peay (2-3).
The Lady Eagles hit .318 in game one in a 30-25 win. Austin Peay took advantage of poor hitting and ball control, taking a 30-24 win in game two. Southern Miss bounced back with 30-18 and 30-22 wins in game three and four. The Lady Eagles held the Lady Govs to .071 hitting per game.
Southern Miss continues play Saturday at 12:30 p.m., against UT-Martin and again at 5 p.m., against Mississippi State.
