Volleyball Travels To Face Southeastern
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss volleyball team gets back on the road, Tuesday, traveling to face Southeastern (La.) in Hammond, La.
The Lady Eagles (13-2) face the host Lions (6-5) in a 7 p.m., match.
Southern Miss is fresh off its second tournament title of the season, taking the Forrest General SportsCare Volleyball Classic last weekend at the USM Payne Center. The Lady Eagles defeated Arkansas-Little Rock, 3-1, on Friday before shutting out both Jackson State and Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday.
Senior Bridget Files paced the Southern Miss attack in the tournament, finishing as the tournament's most valuable player and also garnering Conference USA Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sept. 21. Files leads the team with 258 points this season and is second on the team with 198 kills. Nicki Tribble has a team-high 207 kills, while also following in points with 247. Andrea Bush is third with 155 kills and 183.5 points. Amy Truong leads the team with 580 assists.
Southeastern enters the match on a three-game skid, dropping decisions to Nicholls State, Texas San-Antonio and Texas State over the weekend. Leading the Southeastern offensive attack is freshman Heidi Kellermann, who is averaging 2.63 kills per game. Keri Hamblin (2.49), Juliana Neves (2.24) and Sartaria White (2.20) follow in the Lady Lions' balanced attack. Sarah Gascon has a team-high 264 assists.
