Files Named C-USA Volleyball Player Of The Week
Bridget Files |
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss senior volleyball player Bridget Files was selected as the Conference USA Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 21.
It is the second such career honor for Files, who was selected as player of the week in 2002 for the week ending Sept. 30.
Files, a 5-foot-10 middle hitter/blocker from Ramona, Calif., helped lead the Lady Eagles to a 4-0 record in the week, including the title in the Forrest General SportsCare Volleyball Classic. For the week, Files posted 59 kills for a 4.54 per game average, while also hitting .358. She also recorded 25 digs, 18 blocks and six aces.
Files had an attack percentage above .400 in all three matches over the weekend, earning tournament MVP honors in the process. She also became the 10th player in school history to record more than 1,000 kills in a career following a 23-kill performance against Arkansas-Little Rock.
Files, who leads Southern Miss (13-2) with 258 total points this season, has recorded double-digit kills in all but three matches this season.
