Southern Miss Volleyball Drops Navy, 3-0
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After taking the opening match of the Air Force Tournament on Friday, Southern Miss volleyball picked up where it left off with a win over Navy on Saturday.
The Lady Eagles improved to 9-1 overall on the season with the 3-0 win (30-15, 30-20, 30-20), setting a school record for most wins in a row (8) and best start in the process. Navy fell to 2-5.
Bridget Files tallied the most points for Southern Miss on Saturday, finishing with 14 overall and 10 kills. Nicki Tribble followed with 13.5 points but had a team-high 11 kills. Andrea Bush also had 10 kills, finishing with 11.5 points. Tribble also led the team with 10 digs.
For Navy, Amanda McHenry had 7.5 points overall, and Alexis Gonzales followed with seven points.
Southern Miss has not lost a match since an 0-3 decision to Texas Tech in the second match of the season. The team also is 24-1 in all games since in that span.
The Lady Eagles have one more match in the tournament, taking on host Air Force at 7 p.m., tonight.
