Southern Miss Wraps Up Memphis Preparation HATTIESBURG, Miss. -
The Golden Eagles (1-1) host the Tigers (2-0) at M.M. Roberts Stadium, Saturday. Kickoff for the game is set for 6 p.m.
Southern Miss Head Coach Jeff Bower was pleased with the team's final practice before the first home game of the season.
"We had a good day," Bower said. "We did some good things out there, and we are just polishing out our game plan. I hope (the players) are anxious about playing a home game against a good football team. That should get anyone excited."
Bower and company also expect a good atmosphere for the home opener.
"I know that we are glad to be playing in front of our home fans," Bower said. "It looks like there will be a good crowd, and the weather will be good. We are excited."
Bower said that guard Travis Cooley is out for the game after undergoing knee surgery on Thursday. Along with Cooley, freshman James Denley also had knee surgery Thursday. Earlier in the week, Bower said that senior defensive end Terrell Paul (MCL sprain) also will sit out the Memphis game. It will be the second game that Paul has missed.
The game will be broadcast on the Southern Miss/ISP Sports Network, with John Cox handling the play-by-play, Vic Purvis with analysis and Lance Pittman on the sideline. Broadcast for the game begins 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
