Southern Miss Volleyball Wins Opener

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Southern Miss Lady Eagle volleyball team picked up a win in its first match of the season here at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Invitational Tournament.

Southern Miss (1-0) won the match over North Carolina A&T, 3-0, holding the opponents to less than 20 points in all three games.

Senior Nicki Tribble paced the Lady Eagles with a team-high 19 points, including 18 kills. Fellow seniors Bridget Files and Andrea Bush followed with 17 and 12 points, respectively.

"This was a good first match and a good win for us," Southern Miss Head Coach Santiago Restrepo said. "We played well, and I was pleased with our efforts."

The Lady Eagles now face Texas Tech in an afternoon contest, set for 4 p.m.
