Southern Miss Volleyball Team Loses to Texas Tech in Three
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas ? Southern Miss? volleyball team lost to Texas Tech in three games, 30-25, 30-25, 30-17, in the TAMU-CC Sea Island Shrimp House Classic, evening its record to 1-1 on the day, while Texas Tech improved to 2-0.
Bridet Files recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs, accounting for 14 points. TTU?s Angela Mooney led all attackers with 16 kills and Kelly Johnson added 14 kills for the Red Raiders. The two combined for 36.5 points.
"Our passing and setting game was not there this afternoon," Head Coach Santiago Restrepo said. "We will have to do a better job of passing for our offense to work. Defensively, we missed a few assignments."
Southern Miss returns to action, Saturday, at 9 a.m., against Sam Houston State and concludes with a match against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 2 p.m.
The Lady Eagles open the home portion of their schedule, Sept. 3 against UNO at 7 p.m., in the Payne Center.
