Bower Announces Special Teams Starters HATTIESBURG, Miss. -
After naming Micky D'Angelo the starting quarterback on Monday, Southern Miss Head Coach Jeff Bower today announced the starters for three position battles on special teams.
Freshman signee Darren McCaleb will handle the place kicking duties in Saturday's Golden Eagle opener against California. Along with McCaleb, redshirt-sophomore Luke Johnson was named the starting punter, and junior college transfer Adam Kelly will be the deep snapper. Redshirt-sophomore quarterback Dustin Almond will serve as the holder.
Bower also said that Brad Langley will be the backup place-kicker, while Neal Schmidt will back up at punter. Josh Braddy will be the backup deep snapper.
The Golden Eagles have one more practice in Hattiesburg before leaving for California. Saturday's game is set for 3 p.m., CT.
