Southern Miss Blanks Birmingham Southern, 3-0, In Exhibition Match
HUNTSVILLE, Ala.. ? The Southern Miss Lady Eagle Soccer teams? first match of the season was a successful one, upending Birmingham Southern, 3-0, in an exhibition contest at the Huntsville College Preseason Classic.
Southern Miss led 2-0 at the half behind goals from redshirt sophomore Laura James and junior Lauren Prewitt. Prewitt added her second goal of the match in the second half and junior goalkeeper Anna Snyder collected one save in the victory.
Overall, Coach Matt Clark was pleased with what he saw. ?We had a chance to play 26 players which gave us a chance to see what options we had,? Clark said. ?We looked good in the attack and our speed and transition were good.?
The Lady Eagles open the regular season next Friday in New Orleans, La., against Nicholls State. Match time is set for 5:30 p.m.
