Southern Miss Signs Soccer Standout
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss soccer head coach Matt Clark has announced the ninth signee of the 2003 signing class.
Midfielder Kimberley Turner of Belfast, Northern Ireland, signed a national letter-of-intent to play for Southern Miss. Turner is the ninth signee of Clark?s third signing class.
Turner attended Orange Field High School where she played club soccer for Belfast United. Turner was elected player of the year by the league.
?Kim is an amazing player who is a great attacker and has a great presence that our team will feed off,? Clark said. ?Her work rate and passion for the game is amazing and just having her on the field will elevate the team. She is a great dead ball specialist who will be an impact player right away.?
The Lady Eagles open the 2003 season Aug. 22, with an exhibition match against Birmingham Southern in Huntsville, Ala. Match time is set for 5:30 p.m.
