HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Head Volleyball Coach Santiago Restrepo announced the signing of volleyball standout Leslie VanDuinen of St. Johns, Mich.
VanDuinen, a 6-1 middle hitter/outside hitter, was a four-year letterwinner for Coach Erin Barry at St. Johns High School. She received all-region and all-conference honors for three years. She was named the team's best offensive and defensive player, in addition to being named team captain. She set the school record for career total blocks with 483. She also set the record for most kills (429) and blocks (215) in a season. She earned three letters in basketball, earning the team's most valuable player award. She was a two-time all-conference selection.
VanDuinen plays for the USA Michigan Runbird Club team under Coach Orlando Gonzalez.
"Lesley will be a nice addition to our team," Restrepo said. "She is a strong hitter and that is what we need for this team."
