Bell batted .667 for the week, hitting 6-for-9 in four games with two runs, a double, two home runs and four RBIs. The Castaic, Calif., native hit 5-for-7 (.714) in last weekend?s three-game series against East Carolina.
She was perfect at the plate, 2-for-2, in game two against the Pirates with an RBI and smashed her fifth home run of the season in game three against ECU, a two-run blast over centerfield, and she was 2-for-3 in the contest. Her slugging percentage for the week was 1.444. She has hit safely in five of the last six games.
Bell is now the top hitter for the Lady Eagles, batting .282 with 18 runs, four doubles, two triples, five home runs and 19 RBIs. In the month of April, she has hit .342 (13-for-38) with eight runs, three doubles, three home runs and nine RBIs in 17 games.
Holaway did not surrender a run in her three appearances last week, collecting three wins and two shutouts. The Baker, La., native recorded a two-hit performance against Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday, April 23, and a three-hit outing in the first game against ECU on Saturday, April 26.
In 13 innings last week, Holaway recorded three walks and 12 strikeouts. She has surrendered only one run in her last 20.2 innings pitched and has surrendered only two runs in her last 22.2 innings pitched against C-USA opponents.
On the year, she is 13-14 with a 2.01 ERA, seven shutouts, three saves, 49 walks and 112 strikeouts.
The Lady Eagles are 25-26 on the year. They face LSU in a single game in Baton Rouge, La., on Tuesday, April 29, at 6:30 p.m.
