HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Head Volleyball Coach Santiago Restrepo announced the signing of volleyball standout Nicole Petrie of El Cajon, Calif., during the spring signing period.
Petrie, a 6-2 middle blocker, was a four-year letterwinner at Helix High School in La Mesa, Calif., where she played for Coach Scott Strange. She was named team captain for two seasons. The all-league first-team selection was named the league player of the year and most valuable player for her team. She received all-academic honors from the San Diego Union Tribune. She played club volleyball for the RSF (Rancho Sante Fe) Nike under Coach Dede Bodnar.
"Nicole adds height to our team," Restrepo said. "She will give us strength in the front row with her blocking and attacking ability. She will be a great asset to our program because of her abilities at the net."
