Lady Eagle Tennis Team Nabs Ohio Standout
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Head Women's Tennis Coach Randy Rowley announced the signing of Grace Kammerer of Cincinnati, Ohio, during the spring signing period.
Kammerer was a four-year letterwinner at Seton High School, where she played over 100 matches at No. 1 singles. A four-time school MVP and team captain for two years, she was the 1999 Division I singles sectional winner and runner-up in 2000, 2001 and 2002. She also was a 1999 Division I singles district qualifier, a semifinalist in 2000 and 2001, and the runnerup in 2002. Kammerer was a three-time Division I state singles qualifier and was named the GGCL Conference Division I Player of the Year the last three seasons. She also was a four-time Division I singles all-city and all-district selection and was named the Enquirer Division I Player of the Year in 2002 and the 2002 LaRosa Athlete of the Month. In USTA, she has been ranked locally, sectionally and nationally for the last five years. She has been ranked as high as 161 nationally and ranked as high as 22 in the Midwest. She is a four-year honor student at Seton High School and a member of Who's Who Among American Students. She is a member of the National Honor Society and received the Student-Athlete Award. She is the daughter of Leo and Suzanne Kammerer.
"We're excited about bring in a young American player with this type of national ranking," Rowley said. "Grace will make a very good addition to the Southern Miss tennis program. She is a very talented American player, who will make an immediate impact in our program."
