Lady Eagles Defeat Charlotte, 3-1

Auriel Jenkins batted 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead Southern Miss (18-23, 4-9 in C-USA). Charity Butler was 1-for-2 with two RBIs, and Heather Bell was 1-for-2 with two runs scored.
With two outs in the bottom of the second, Butler drove a grounder through the left side of the infield and scored Bell and Jessica Huerta to give the Lady Eagles the 2-1 lead. Bell doubled in the fourth and reached the plate on Jenkins single down the left field line, giving Southern Miss the eventual 3-1 win.
Sam Moore put Charlotte (13-22, 4-11) on the board in the top of the second. The shortstop belted a 2-0, outside pitch over the right field fence for her sixth home run of the season and gave the 49ers the early 1-0 nod.
Holaway went hitless in the final four innings. The junior is now 10-12 on the year.
Amy Morse (4-10) recorded the loss, going 4.1 innings and collecting five hits, one earned run, and four walks. Dana Bowers came in relief, pitching 1.2 innings and giving up a walk.
