Lady Eagle Volleyball Faces Alabama HATTIESBURG, Miss.
Southern Miss (23-5, 8-2 in Conference USA) takes on the Crimson Tide (13-11, 7-5 in the SEC), at 7 p.m. The match is the final non-conference contest of the season for the Lady Eagles.
Under the direction of third-year Head Coach Santiago Restrepo, Southern Miss is in position to have one of the more successful seasons in school history. The team already has the most wins under Restrepo, the most wins since 1990 and third-most wins in the program's existence. With a victory on Wednesday, the Lady Eagles could match the 1990 team for most wins in a season with 24. The school record is 26 wins, achieved by the 1985 squad.
Southern Miss enters the contest on a two-match win streak with victories over Charlotte and East Carolina. The Crimson Tide comes in on a five-match win streak, including a pair of wins over Kentucky and South Carolina.
The Lady Eagles' three seniors -- Bridget Files, Nicki Tribble and Andrea Bush -- continue to lead the Southern Miss attack, with the three players all scoring more than 400 points. Files has a team-high 480 points and is tops in total blocks. Tribble, who has a team-high 398 kills, is second with 457.5 points. Bush is third in points (435.5) and second in kills (380). Setter Amy Truong leads the team with 1,206 assists and has a team-high 43 aces. Bush and Tribble both follow with 40 aces.
For Alabama, Erin Heffner leads the team with 395 kills and also has 200 digs. Jennifer Bibber follows with 294, while Erin Price has a team-high 919 assists.
Following Wednesday's match, Southern Miss returns to Hattiesburg for its final home match of the season, facing Tulane at 7 p.m., Saturday.
