? With today?s 38-21 victory, Southern Miss (9-3, 8-0) has set a new Conference
? Southern Miss also secured a spot in the 2003 AXA Liberty Bowl, the team?s third since 1997. It also marked the sixth bowl in the last seven years for Head Coach Jeff Bower and the Golden Eagles. Southern Miss will meet
? The nine victories also mark the most regular-season wins ever under Head Coach Jeff Bower and the most in the regular season since 1988. It?s also the most wins since 1999, when the Eagles went 9-3, including a bowl win over
? Today?s win is the 30th for this year?s senior class, who holds a 30-18 overall record. This is the sixth season in a row in which the senior class has won 30 or more games, beginning with the graduating class of 1998.
? Southern Miss has now won six games in a row, the most consecutive wins since the 2000 season, when the Eagles started with a 6-1 record after losing the season opener.
? The Golden Eagles held a 24-7 halftime lead in today?s game. For the season, Southern Miss is 7-0 in games where it has led at the break.
? Quarterback Dustin Almond threw for 208 yards on 11-of-23 passing and had one touchdown and three interceptions. His scoring pass to Marvin Young marked the sixth game in a row that Almond has thrown for a score. Almond also rushed for a career-high 34 yards on seven carries and scored two rushing touchdowns. He was responsible for three touchdowns in the game, moving his season total to 16. That number ranks tied for sixth in the school?s single-season record book, along with Lee Roberts (1997) and Brett Favre (1987).
? Running back Anthony Harris finished with a game-high 119 yards rushing and one touchdown on 28 carries. With his second-quarter touchdown in today?s game, Harris has now rushed for a score in each of the last six games. The 100-yard game also is Harris fourth of the season and fifth of his career.
? Wide receiver Marvin Young finished the game with 39 yards on two catches and had one touchdown. It was the sixth game in a row that Young has scored, including a two-point conversion scored against Tulane.
? Wide receiver DaRon Lawrence led the Golden Eagles with 104 yards on four catches today. The total yardage marked a career high for Lawrence, who previously had a mark of 85 yards on six catches at
? Wide receiver Antwon Courington grabbed two receptions for 39 yards today. The catches push his consecutive games with a catch streak to a team-best nine games.

? Linebacker Rod Davis continued his assault on the Southern Miss and Conference
? Linebacker Michael Boley finished the game with 10 tackles and three sacks, bringing his team-leading total to 10. That number ranks tied for fourth in the all-time single-season list with Chris Jackson (1983). He also improved his team-best tackles for loss total to 21.5, ranking third in that single-season list.
? Defensive back John Eubanks intercepted a Troth pass in the closing minutes of the game and returned it 80 yards for the Golden Eagles last touchdown of the game. Eubanks? interception return for a touchdown is the first for Southern Miss since Etric Pruitt did it against
? Defensive back Etric Pruitt also led the team with 10 tackles, including nine solos.
