Bush Named C-USA Volleyball Co-Player Of The Week
Andrea Bush |
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss senior volleyball player Andrea Bush was selected as one of two Conference USA Volleyball Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 5.
The selection marks the second of the season for a Southern Miss player. Fellow senior Bridget Files was named the conference player of the week for Sept. 21.
Bush, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter from San Antonio, Texas, was selected along with USF's Shameka Mitchell after both players led their squads to a 2-0 league mark last weekend. The Lady Eagles improved to 17-3 this year.
Bush tallied a league-high and career-tying 30 kills while hitting .397 in Southern Miss' first-ever win over Houston on Friday. The performance also marked her third 30-kill match of her career. Against TCU, Bush added 17 kills and 11 digs.
She finished the weekend with 47 kills, while posting only nine errors for a .404 hitting percentage. Bush also recorded 18 digs, three total blocks and one ace.
For the year, Bush is tied for second on the team with 257 kills. She also is third in overall points scored with 292.5.
Southern Miss' 17 wins on the season are the most since 1998, when the Golden Eagle went 21-10.
