Southern Miss Continues Homecoming Preparation HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss football team continued its game-week preparation for Louisiana-Lafayette, Tuesday, at the Joe P. Park practice field.
The Golden Eagles (4-3, 4-0 in Conference USA) host the Ragin' Cajuns (2-7, 2-3 in the Sun Belt) in the 2003 Homecoming, Saturday, at M.M. Roberts Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
Southern Miss Head Coach Jeff Bower was pleased with the day's work, and hopes the good practice continues.
"It wasn't too bad," Bower said. "We went after each other pretty good and did a lot of things well. We worked a little extra in the kicking game. We have to be better in our coverage units. Louisiana-Lafayette is good at blocking kicks, so we have to be good at protecting."
Bower also saw good work from the offense, which is coming off the best performance of the season with 337 yards against the Bulls.
"We just have to keep getting better at what we are doing," Bower said. "We are not changing anything. Today was a pretty good day offensively. We did some good things and maybe we got some confidence in the USF game. I hope we can build on that."
