Golden Eagles Continue USF Preparation HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Heading into this week's preparation for USF, the Southern Miss offense had a few starting positions up for grabs.
After Tuesday's practice, the starters at quarterback and running back for Saturday's home game against the Bulls are still up in the air.
"We haven't made any decisions yet," Southern Miss Head Coach Jeff Bower said. "We have been working them all, and I don't know when we will make a decision. We don't have a timetable on it. We are going to continue to work them and see what happens. We'll let them compete all week."
Bower said the three quarterbacks -- Micky D'Angelo, Dustin Almond and Damion Carter -- have all gotten their fair share of reps in practice.
"We'll look at them on tape and evaluate them every day," Bower said. "We will see who did well and try to get them all ready."
Bower expects to make a decision soon on trimming the quarterback competition from three to two players.
Aside from the quarterback dilemma, Bower wants to see better performances in the team's practices over the next two days.
"The practices have been okay, but they need to be better," Bower said. "They weren't bad, but they weren't good enough. We need to finish up better tomorrow and Thursday. We just expect more."
Kickoff for the game is slated for 2:07 p.m.
