Truong Named C-USA Volleyball Co-Player Of The Week

Southern Miss junior volleyball player Amy Truong was selected as one of two Conference USA Volleyball Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 12.The selection marks the third of the season for a Southern Miss player, including the second in a row. Senior Bridget Files was named the conference player of the week for Sept. 21, while senior player Andrea Bush was selected as a co-player of the week last week.
Truong, a 5-foot-9 setter from Palmdale, Calif., was chosen along with Cincinnati's Julie Dupont after both players led their squads to a 2-0 league mark last weekend.
The Lady Eagles, who swept USF and UAB over the weekend, now share the Conference USA lead with 4-0 record -- the first ever 4-0 start in school history. Southern Miss currently sits at 19-3 on the season.
Against UAB, Truong posted her 100th career ace, while also tallying 16 digs, five total blocks and two service aces. For the weekend, she averaged 13.12 assists per game, while adding six service aces and 21 digs.
For the year, Truong leads Southern Miss with 937 assists and has 35 service aces. The junior also has 192 digs and 54 total blocks.
Southern Miss' 19 wins on the season are the most since 1998, when the Golden Eagle went 21-10.
