Golden Eagle Baseball?s Cook Named Verizon Academic All-District
"Jeff is a true student athlete, who excels not only on the field but also in the classroom," Southern Miss Head Coach Corky Palmer said. "It is a credit to him that he knows the importantce of getting a good education. I'm very proud of him for that, because in life, getting a good education is the number one goal."
Cook is third on the Southern Miss squad in batting with a .346 batting average, but leads the team in runs (62), hits (72), home runs (13), RBIs (55) and total bases (123). He is second in stolen bases (15), slugging percentage (.591) and third in on-base percentage (.421).
In Conference USA, Cook his ranked No. 2 in runs scored, No. 4 in total bases and RBIs, No. 5 in hits, sixth in home runs and 10th in slugging percentage and stolen bases.
Cook currently holds a 3.51 GPA in Architect Engineering Technology.
Southern Miss is 33-16 overall and 16-7 in
Conference USA and is tied with Houston for first place.
