Lady Eagles Seeded Second in C-USA Softball Tournament
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? The Southern Miss softball team travels to Tampa, Fla., for the 2002 Conference USA Softball Tournament, on May 9-11. The Lady Eagles (25-32 overall, 15-8 in C-USA) are the No. 2 seed and receive a bye in the first round of the six-team event.
DePaul is the No. 1 seed, and UAB is seeded third. No. 4 Louisville, No. 5 South Florida and No. 6 East Carolina make up the teams featured in this year?s league tournament.
Southern Miss will face the winner of the UAB-ECU game at 2:30 p.m. (CST) on Thursday, May 9. Originally, the No. 2 seed was to play in the 6 p.m., game, but the schedule was switched in order to enhance attendance for South Florida, the host institution.
The tournament will conclude on Saturday, May 11, with the championship game at 1 p.m. (CST). The championship game will be televised live on Comcast Charter Southeast (Channel 21 on Comcast Cable in Hattiesburg).
All of the Lady Eagles games in the tournament will be featured on a "live stats" broadcast on SouthernMiss.com.
