Jessica Holaway Named C-USA Pitcher of the Week

Southern Miss won three games at the Hillenbrand Invitational, in Tucson, Ariz., and Holaway earned all three wins. The Lady Eagles defeated Long Beach State, 5-2, after the 49ers defeated No. 1 UCLA, 3-2, the previous weekend. Against LBSU, Holaway pitched six innings, gave up two runs on seven hits, walked four and struck out seven.
Holaway came in relief to pick up the 6-3 win against Eastern Michigan. She went 2.1 innings, gave up no hits and no runs, with only one walk, and struck out four.
Against Evansville, Holaway pitched a shutout for the Lady Eagles to win 1-0. In seven innings, she gave up three hits, two in the final inning. She did not surrender a walk and fanned 10 batters.
Holaway is 5-3 on the year with a 2.55 ERA. She has 15 walks and 52 strikeouts.
