Lady Eagle Softball Team Goes 3-0 in Fall Classic
HATTIESBURG, Miss.--The Southern Miss softball team won all three games in its Fall Classic, defeating Southeastern Louisiana, 8-0, West Alabama 12-3, and Jackson State 8-0.
Jessica Holaway got the win against Southeastern Louisiana, allowing three hits and striking out three. Freshman Danielle Wymer got the win against West Alabama, giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits. Holaway pitched the first two innings against Jackson State and Wymer pitched the last two innings and gave up only one hit.
Tammy Edwards finished the tournament, 3-for-6, with a home run and a double. Amanda Brown and Charity Butler, both finished 3-for-3 on the day, while Auriel Jenkins finished 3-for-5. Sarah Boyd was 2-for-3 with four runs batted in.
In other action, West Alabama, Southeastern Louisiana and Jackson State, each finished with a 1-2 record. West Alabama defeated Southeastern Louisiana, 8-0, but lost to Jackson State, 2-1. SLU defeated Jackson State, 4-1.
Southern Miss plays in the Spring Klein Fall Classic, in Spring Klein, Texas, Oct. 12-13.
