Lady Eagles Travel To Face East Carolina and Charlotte
The Lady Eagles (13-11, 4-4) have done well on the road in league play, recording a 3-1 away record. The last time they played back-to-back conference road matches, at Marquette and DePaul on Oct. 18 and 19 respectively, they won both matches.
Andrea Bush and Bridget Files lead Southern Miss on offense, as Bush holds 392 kills and Files claims 318 kills. Files leads the team with 98 blocks, and Bush is one kill away from advancing in the top 10 for season kills in the Southern Miss record books.
Crystal Zane leads the team with 971 assists and with 273 digs. Amy Truong and Files share the team lead with 40 aces apiece. Services aces have been the Lady Eagles? strong suit, as they have outperformed their opponents, 181 to 121.
Southern Miss leads East Carolina in the overall series, 1-0. The Lady Eagles faced the Pirates for the first time last season, winning the match, 3-0.
ECU (6-19, 0-7) has won two of its last four matches. Prior to this stint, the Pirates recorded a seven-match losing streak, and they have won only one game in conference play this season, losing six of seven league matches with 3-0 scores.
Robyn Drewes leads East Carolina with 219 kills. Erica Wilson claims a team-best 416 assists, and Johanna Bertini leads with 219 digs. Sarah Vick has recorded 50 aces this season, and Alexis Jones leads the team with 59 total blocks.
Charlotte (13-11, 4-3) has won three of its last five matches and has won all of its home conference matches, holding a 3-0 home league record. The Lady Eagles lead the series against the 49ers, 7-6.
Courtney Burg leads Charlotte with 312 kills and 277 digs. Molly McDonald is the team?s leading setter with 802, and Lisa Newell claims a team-best 79 blocks and 38 aces.
The Lady Eagles travel to face Tulane on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m.
