Lady Eagles Defeat Islanders, 3-0
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? The Southern Miss volleyball team claimed a 3-0 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi this evening, in the Payne Center. The Lady Eagles recorded 14 aces in the match.
Andrea Bush led Southern Miss (11-9) with 13 kills, committing only two hitting error and finishing with a .458 hitting percentage. Five Lady Eagles collected aces in the match with Jazzmien Stephens claiming a personal-best five aces.
Crystal Zane recorded 31 aces. The senior was acknowledged this evening, prior to the match, as being the Lady Eagles all-time leader in assists.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (9-15) featured three players with four kills. Kara Wells, Alexis Berger and Melanie Travis led the Islanders in kills. Erin McClanahan finished with 18 assists.
Southern Miss returns to conference action this Friday, Oct. 18, hosting Louisville at 7 p.m., in the Payne Center.
