South Florida Defeats Lady Eagles, 3-0
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? The Southern Miss volleyball team lost its second-straight match, losing to South Florida, 3-0, in the Payne Center, this evening.
Michelle Collier led South Florida (16-4, 4-0) with 18 kills and completed a double-double with 11 digs. Shameka Mitchell recorded 12 kills with a team-best .471 hitting percentage, and Allessandra Domingos claimed 42 assists.
Bridget Files led the Lady Eagles (10-9, 2-2) with 14 kills. Crystal Zane finished with 27 assists and two aces.
Game one was a tight battle with Southern Miss leading from 4-3 until they surrendered the advantage to USF at 22-21. The opener featured three lead changes and four ties. The Bulls took over down the stretch to win the first game, 30-28.
Games two and three were completely controlled by South Florida. Collier claimed 12 of her 18 kills in the remaining two games.
The Lady Eagles will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Monday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m., in the Payne Center.
