McReynolds Named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-District Team
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss soccer player Leila McReynolds was named as a member of the 2001 Verizon Academic All-District VI University Division Women's Soccer Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Eleven athletes, hailing from eight regional universities, were named to the team. McReynolds and all other first team members will advance to the national ballot to be voted by CoSIDA. The Verizon Academic All-America team will be announced on Feb. 7.
McReynolds, a three-year letterwinner from Evansville, Ind., finished the 2001 campaign with 13 points, including five goals and three assists. She has scored 15 career goals and has 10 career assists, while starting all but three matches in her playing career. Among her academic honors, McReynolds has been a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester, the President's List twice, the Dean's List three times, including the Fall 2001 semester. She also won the Conference USA Academic Medal and earned a spot on the C-USA Honor Roll.
