Lady Eagle Volleyball Team Opens Conference USA Play at TCU
The Southern Miss volleyball team hits the road, opening Conference USA play at TCU, Sept. 20. The Lady Eagles will try to snap a two-match losing streak.
Southern Miss (5-4) is coming off a heartbreaking , 3-2 loss, to intra-state rival Mississippi State. Kelly Tribble led the Eagles with 19 kills, while Bridget Files added 14 kills. Lisa Downey led the defensive attack with a season-high 23 digs, followed by Melissa Shreve with 17, Amy Truong had 13 and Tribble added 11.
TCU (2-6) is coming off a 3-2 win against North Texas. Marci King led the Horned Frogs with 21 kills and 15 digs. King leads the team in kills with 116 (4.0 kpg) and digs 80 (2.76 dpg).
TCU leads the series with Southern Miss, 1-0. The last time the two teams played was exactly four years to the date, Sept. 20, 1997.
Following the TCU match, Southern Miss returns home for the first time since Sept. 5, hosting South Florida, Sept. 22.
