Southern Miss Received Votes in ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll
The Golden Eagles collected 19 points in the Preseason ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. A panel of coaches across the nation votes on the poll.

Southern Miss finished the 2000 season with an 8-4 record after defeating No. 13 TCU in the GMAC Mobile Alabama Bowl, 28-21.

No. 25 Alabama is the only Southern Miss opponent ranked in the preseason poll. East Carolina (59 points), Louisville (51) and TCU (27) also received votes.

The Golden Eagles are one-of-15 teams that have been to four-straight bowl games and one-of-10 that has collected seven-or-more wins in the past five consecutive seasons.
