Men's Tennis Wins Ninth Consecutive Match
12-6 on the season, defeating Louisiana-Lafayette, 5-1, Saturday morning at
Tatum Park. The win was the ninth consecutive win, and 12 out the last 13
matches.
The teams did not play doubles in the match. The Golden Eagles opened the
match with a 2-0 lead, winning the No. 5 and No. 6 singles by defaults.
UL-Lafayette's Jakub Ikowski defeated Miikka Kangas (84) at No. 1 singles,
6-1, 6-1, for the Ragin Cajuns only win. Daniel Homedes defeated Johann V.
D. Westhuizen (ULL), 4-6, 6-2, 4-1 (retired) at No. 2 singles. David Jansson
defeated Michael Tarkowski (ULL), 7-6, 6-3, at No. 3 singles. Konsta Finnila
defeated Cason Mays (ULL), 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4 singles.
The Golden Eagles close out the regular season, April 14, with a match
against Tulane at the Racquet Club of Hattiesburg at 4 p.m.
