Lady Eagles Net Two Goals in Spring Season Opener
Hattiesburg, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's soccer team won its spring
season opener with a 2-0 victory over the Baton Rouge Red Star club soccer
team, Saturday, at the Marshall Bell Track and Soccer Complex.
Katie Adams and Lindsay Canham each netted scores in the first half, giving
the Lady Eagles the 2-0 lead at the break. In the eighth minute, Adams
found the net past the Red Star's goalkeeper, Emily Moore. Canham slipped
her goal past Moore in the 33rd minute of the first half.
Southern Miss reeled off 10 shots in the first half, while allowing just
three Red Star attempts. In the second half, the Lady Eagles kept up the
pressure, firing six attempts while blanking the Red Star in the process.
For Southern Miss, Jessica Gough got the shutout in goal.
