Bower Asks For Help In Unusual Situation
In a letter to the editors of the newspapers in the state, Bower asked that fans who will be unable to attend the game, please give those tickets to someone who will be in attendance. Bower cited the outstanding atmosphere surrounding early season games, and noted that continuing that atmosphere is important to the Golden Eagles success.
In that letter Bower said, "Through the steadfast efforts of many, The Rock has truly become a place our opponents dread. UAB Head Coach Watson Brown shared with his radio audience that the Rock was louder than some 100,000-seat stadiums he has played in and that his team had a difficult time hearing their plays. The atmosphere that day was one he will remember for a long time."
Bower's request is a first to Golden Eagle fans. "If for some reason, you will not be able to be with us, please share your tickets with others so they, too, can experience the unique excitement found at The Rock. The last two home games are huge in our recruiting efforts - both your presence in the stands and the roar of your cheers are instrumental in sharing with prospective players, as well as prospective bowl committees, just what Southern Miss football has to offer."
Southern Miss has averaged 27,026 fans, one of the top averages in Roberts Stadium history. Tickets to the remaining two home game remain on sale and can be purchased at the Ferlise Center or by calling 1-800-844-TICK or 601-266-5418. A variety of ticket packages is available.
