Men's Tennis Compete At Tulane Invitational
The Golden Eagles competed at the Tulane Men's Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Mikka Kangas, Uwe Gneiting, and David Jansson all competed in the "A" singles bracket. While Nicolas Carteret, David Terol, Chris Walker competed in the "B" singles bracket.
Kangas lost his first round match but, defeated John Vanderwesthuizen, ULL, 6-4, 6-4, in the consolation bracket. Gneiting and Jansson also were defeated in the first round of play.
Carteret played well in the "B" singles winner's bracket defeating Anthony Blache, ULL, to make it to the semifinals. Carteret was defeated in the semifinals by Bryan Fisher, LSU, 6-2, 6-1.
Terol was defeated in the first round by Fisher, 6-0, 6-1, and he did not play in the consolation bracket.
Walker defeated Nic Lichenstein, UNO, 6-3, 6-1, in the first round of the "B" bracket. Walker lost in the second round and was also defeated in the consolation bracket.
In doubles play, Kangas/Carteret defeated Vanderwesthuizen/Michael Tarkowski, ULL, 8-3, in the "A" doubles bracket. Kangas/Carteret were defeated in the semifinals.
Jansson/Gneiting played well in the "B" bracket winning two matches to make the finals. Jansson/Gneiting were defeated in the finals 8-4 by Westeberg/Vasilljevic of Tulane.
