Lady Eagle Volleyball Team Loses to Alabama, 3-1
Kelly Tribble led the Eagle attack with 17 kills, followed by Andrea Bush who finished with 13 kills. Brynn Olsson and Tribble led the defensive attack with 15 and 14 digs, respectively.
Jennifer Bibber led the Crimson Tide with a match-high 22 kills, followed by three other players in double-digit kills, Erin Heffner with 12 kills, and Shelly Adamcik and Erin Price added 11 kills each. Adamcik also led the team with 14 digs. Heffner recorded five aces.
Both teams were evenly matched throughout the first game with neither team holding a big lead. Alabama took game one, 30-28, behind Bidder and Heffner combining for 13 kills. Kelly Tribble tallied seven kills for the Eagles.
Southern Miss took control of game two, jumping out to a quick 10-2 lead and never looked back. The Eagles also took advantage of eight hitting errors by the Tide to take game two, 30-21. Bush recorded six kills for the Eagles, while Bidder added another six kills to her total.
Alabama controlled game three with its offensive attack, committing only three attack errors. The Tide also had six blocks, forcing the Eagles in to eight hitting errors. Bidder led the Tide with seven kills, while Tribble added six kills to her total.
The Tide carried the momentum from game three into game four, jumping out to a big lead late in the game. The Eagles battled back, but Adamcik and Emily Sebastian combined for seven kills to hold off the Lady Eagles, 30-25. Bridgit Files came up big with five kills.
Southern Miss faces Conference USA foe, Tulane, at home on Friday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. The match will be held in the Payne Center.
