Westendorf Named to Verizon Academic All-America Team
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss volleyball player Lindsay Westendorf has been named to the third-team Verizon
Academic All-America University Division Volleyball Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of
American (CoSIDA).
Westendorf, who has a GPA of 3.996 in management information systems, becomes the first female athlete named to the
national academic All-America team at Southern Miss. She played in 104 games for the Lady Eagle volleyball team. She
averaged 3.65 kills and 2.63 digs per game, while hitting .247. She led the team in kills and digs. She registered 26
service aces and 36 total blocks. She was named to the UNO Invitational all-tournament team during the season. She
recorded a career-high 24 kills against Jacksonville State. She had a team-high 20 matches with double-digit kills and a
team-high 13 matches with double-digit digs.
The Baytown, Texas, native, has been on the President's List all but one semester and on the Dean's List in the spring
of 2000. She was named a Conference USA Academic Medalist in 1998, 1999, and 2000. She has also been on the
Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester. She was a member of the 1999 Verizon Academic All-District VI second
team and a first teamer this season.
