T.J. Slaughter (Football, 1995-99)
A four-year letterman for the Golden Eagles from 1995-1999 ... Without question, was a leader of the vaunted Nasty Bunch defense that was ranked among the nation's leaders in the late 90s ... Is considered one of the most dominating and game-changing linebackers to have ever played for the Golden Eagles ... Just his presence on the field and the many ways he had of disrupting opposing offenses changed the way teams tried to attack Southern Miss ... Outstanding linebacker and a top player among Conference USA during his tenure ... Accumulated 425 tackles ... Led the team in tackles for two-straight seasons ... Earned first-team All-Conference USA in back-to-back seasons ... Helped the Golden Eagles win the Liberty Bowl 1997 and 1999 and Conference USA Championships those same years ... Was also a part of the 1996 Conference USA Championship ... Recorded a school-record 26 tackles against Texas A&M in 1999 that included 19 solo tackles.
