After earning his first letter and All-Conference USA Freshman honors in 2001, he started every game of his final three years from 2002-2004 as a guard (2002) and then as a tackle (2003-04). Southern Miss posted a 23-15 overall record and finished 18-6 in C-USA action with Parquet starting up front.
As a team captain in 2003, Parquet earned First Team All-Conference USA honors as a junior after leading the Golden Eagles to the Conference USA Title. As a captain in 2004, he led an offensive unit that gave up just seven sacks all season while continuing to soar up NFL Draft boards. He was selected to play in the 2005 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., before the Kansas City Chiefs selected him in the seventh round with the 238th overall pick of the 2005 NFL Draft.
The Norco, La., native began a seven-year professional career with the Chiefs in 2005. He was signed by the Saint Louis Rams in 2006 where he played through 2007. He joined the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of the 2008 season and was a contributor to the Steelers’ Super Bowl XLIII win over Arizona. Parquet also spent time overseas with NFL Europe’s Hamburg Sea Devils, where he earned All-NFLE honors in 2007 and won World Bowl XV. He later joined the UFL’s Las Vegas Locomotives, winning the 2009 UFL Championship, before finishing his career with the CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos in 2010 and 2011.
Parquet currently resides in Spring, Texas, with his wife Kristen Parquet where he serves as a minister in The Church of the Nazarene. Kristen, a registered nurse, earned her BSN at Southern Miss in 2006. The couple has three children: Jeremiah, Joshua and Kai.
