Wetterström arrives in the Hub City after serving as an assistant coach at Akron. Prior to her time with the Zips, Wetterström spent a year at Florida State as the volunteer assistant coach for Florida State volleyball.
“I am extremely excited to be a part of the Southern Miss beach volleyball program,” said Wetterström. “I am honored to have the opportunity to work with such well-rounded individuals that are passionate about becoming the best version of themselves on and off the court. Southern Miss To The Top!”
The Seminoles finished 20-10 with a 10-7 ACC record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament.
Before her season with the Seminoles, Wetterström spent two years with the Liiga Ploki Professional Volleyball Club in Phitipudas, Finland.
Before her professional career, Wetterström played one year as a graduate transfer at Florida State, transitioning to the sand and joining the Seminoles’ beach volleyball team.
The Longmont, Colo. native earned four varsity letters as a member of the Michigan volleyball team from 2016-19.
Notched 624 kills on 1,663 attacks, a 0.196 attack percentage, with 36 assists, 400 digs, 109 total blocks and 711 total points over her four-year career with the Wolverines.
Thrice named to All-Big Ten Academic Team (2017, 2018, 2019). Also received 2020 Big Ten Outstanding Sportsmanship Award and 2020 National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals Wilma Rudolph Student-Athlete Achievement Award.
In her four years in Ann Arbor, Wetterström helped the Wolverines to a 90-44 overall record and 47-34 Big Ten record. The Maize & Blue made the NCAA tournament all four seasons, advancing to the second round in 2019 and the third round in 2016 and 2018.
Off the courts, Wetterström spends her time involved in the community, having been a co-founder of the Student-Athlete Sexual Health support group and serving as the head mental health representative on the Michigan Student-Athlete Athletic Counsel. She also helped found the LGBTQ Student-Athlete Organization at the University of Michigan in December 2019.
Wetterström, a double-major, earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Fitness and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Michigan in 2020. She earned her Master’s in Social Work with an emphasis in Clinical Counseling in 2022 from Florida State University.
