NEW ORLEANS - Southern Miss junior forward Tylik Weeks was named Sun Belt Player of the Week, as released by the conference office on Tuesday.Â
Weeks picked up MVP honors after helping Southern Miss win the 2025 Pensacola Invitational over the weekend. The New York, New York product averaged 25.5 points per game in wins over North Florida and UT Martin. In the semifinal win over the Ospreys, Weeks came off the bench to score a career-high 37 points. That mark is the most by any Sun Belt player this season, the second-most by a league player since the 2022-23 season, and tied for the 11th-most in Southern Miss history.Â
The junior college transfer went 15-for-23 from the floor on Saturday night and pulled down six boards. In the championship game against the Skyhawks, Weeks scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a 70-60 win. Weeks compiled five assists, one block, and one steal on the weekend. Weeks is now averaging a league-best 18.3 points per game and ranks third in field goal percentage at a 59.4 percent clip.Â
Weeks is the first Southern Miss player to be named Sun Belt Player of the Week since Denijay Harris picked up the honor Dec. 10 of last season. Overall, it's the sixth Sun Belt Player of the Week honor for a Golden Eagle since joining the league ahead of the 2022-23 season.Â
Southern Miss is back in action on Dec. 3 at Radford. Following the 7 p.m. CT tip on ESPN+, the Golden Eagles will travel to Miami (Fla.) on Dec. 6 for an 11 a.m. contest on ACC Network.Â
