HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss senior quarterback Braylon Braxton (Frisco, Texas) was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week following the Golden Eagles 49-21 homecoming victory over ULM last Saturday.
Braxton finished ULM with 248 passing yards on 18-of-23 throws with four touchdowns and no interceptions. He added 20 rushing yards via 11 carries.
He led the Golden Eagles to their fourth-straight victory - their longest streak since 2015 - as well as helping the program achieve bowl eligibility for the first time since 2022.
The four touchdown passes were the most by a Golden Eagle since Jack Abraham tallied that many against Rice in 2018. He has now thrown for a touchdown pass in all eight games this season and has multi-TD games in seven of those contests. He led the Golden Eagles to touchdowns on the team's first three drives to start the game.
Braxton becomes the second Golden Eagle to win league weekly honors this season after Ian Foster garnered the defensive award on Sept. 15. This was the first offensive Sun Belt weekly award for Southern Miss and the first for the program on this side of the ball since Oct 14, 2019, when Abraham captured the Conference USA accolade.
The Golden Eagles are idle this week, but return to action Saturday, Nov. 8, at Arkansas State. Game time is set for 11 a.m., and will be shown on either ESPN2 or ESPNU.
