Men's Basketball Gets First Road Test at Jackson State in Monday Night Exhibition

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss men's basketball heads to Jackson State on Monday night to get its first taste of road basketball this season. The final exhibition for the Golden Eagles is slated to tip-off at 8 p.m. inside the Lee E. Williams Athletic Assembly Center.

Fans can listen on the Southern Miss Radio Network, Southern Miss Game Day App, or their local Southern Miss Network affiliate to hear John Cox on the call. The game will not be streamed.

ABOUT JACKSON STATE
- Jackson State was picked to finish third in the SWAC Preseason Poll, while Daeshun Ruffin was named the SWAC Preseason Player of the Year and Dorian McMillian Second Team All-SWAC
- The Tigers went 14-4 in conference play last season as Ruffin led them in scoring at 15.7 points per game. McMillian averaged 10.2 points per game and 4.3 boards per game en route to being named SWAC Freshman of the Year
- A trio of players come to Jackson State this year out of the transfer portal - the same place that produced Shannon Grant and Romelle Mansel. The trio - Devin Ree [Louisiana Tech], Dionjahe Thomas [Southern] and Raevon Thomas [Central State] - are all listed at 6-8 or taller
-Jackson State has five players from Jackson and the surrounding area, including Jayme Mitchell Jr., Devin Ree, Keiveon Hunt, Mike Williams, and Daeshun Ruffin. They also have four other players from the state of Mississippi on the roster

HISTORY BETWEEN THE TWO
- Southern Miss and Jackson State meet for the second-straight season in an exhibition game, with the Golden Eagles winning last season in overtime
