Sun Belt Announces MAC-SBC Challenge Opponents for Feb. 8

NEW ORLEANS --Â Southern Miss will travel to Ball State in the MAC-SBC Challenge on Feb. 8, per a release from the Sun Belt Conference office. The game will be played at Worthen Arena in Muncie, Ind.
The matchups for the second round were determined by real-time NET Rankings. Southern Miss ranks 283 in the NET and Ball State is 251. Southern Miss hosted Bowling Green in the opening round of the challenge on Nov. 4, where it won 77-68. Georgia State picked up a 71-66 win over the Cardinals in their opening game on the same day as Southern Miss'.Â
Ball State is 8-7 with a 2-1 record in MAC action. The Cardinals have picked up wins over Franklin College, Eastern Kentucky, Florida Tech, Richmond, Bellarmine, Evansville, Anderson, Kent State and Bowling Green. They beat the Falcons 91-69 — Bowling Green is the only common opponent between the two as Southern Miss also picked up a win.Â
