Southern Miss Releases 2024-25 Sun Belt Men's Basketball Slate

NEW ORLEANS -Â The Sun Belt Conference has announced the conference schedule for the 2024-25 men's basketball season. Southern Miss will host nine games at Reed Green Coliseum and hit the road for nine games at various Sun Belt opponent locations. Additionally, Southern Miss will travel to a MAC opponent in early February as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge.Â
The Golden Eagles will not play Georgia State this season and will host Coastal Carolina for the first time since joining the conference. Southern Miss will also head to App State for the first time since 1991. The Golden Eagles will also play a conference game before Dec. 25 for the first time since the 1982-83 season when they played Tulane on Dec. 6.Â
Southern Miss will open its conference slate of games against Marshall (Dec. 21) and it will be the second time in the last three seasons that the Golden Eagles open the Sun Belt portion of its season at Reed Green Coliseum. They will then head to James Madison (Jan. 2) and Old Dominion (Jan. 4) for a pair of road games on the eastern seaboard.Â
Jay Ladner's team returns to Hattiesburg for a two-game homestand against ULM (Jan. 9) and Texas State (Jan. 11) before embarking on a four-game road trip. Southern Miss opens the road trip against South Alabama (Jan. 15) in Mobile, then jet over to Texas State (Jan. 18) in San Marcos. The Golden Eagles then travel to Troy (Jan. 23) and Louisiana (Jan. 25) to close out the trip. Â
A brief stop in the Hub City against Arkansas State (Jan. 29) and Georgia Southern (Feb. 1) gives way to another lengthy road trip in February. Southern Miss travels to App State (Feb. 5) and then will play on the road in the MAC-SBC Challenge on Feb. 8. The Golden Eagles then travel to Arkansas State (Feb. 12) and follow it with their final road game plays its final road game at ULM (Feb. 15).Â
The Golden Eagles wrap up the regular season with a four-game homestand over the final two weekends. The first weekend features the old and the new with Coastal Carolina (Feb. 20) and Louisiana (Jan. 22) visiting The Greenhouse. The Chanticleers visit for the first time in program history, while the Ragin' Cajuns come to Hattiesburg for the 31st time. Southern Miss closes the regular season with a Wednesday night battle against South Alabama (Feb. 26) before ending the season against Troy (Feb. 28).Â
