HATTIESBURG, Miss. – It was the second-straight practice in helmets and shorts to start fall camp for the Southern Miss football team Thursday morning as the squad went through a two-plus hour workout at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.
The day proved to be another hot one for the Golden Eagles despite the early morning start, but the team continued to adjust to the hot temperatures during the workout.
"It was a good day two with great weather again, we thank the Good Lord for that," said fourth-year Southern Miss coach Will Hall. "We handled it a little better today. Acclimation was the key word; we were more acclimated today. Our leaders showed through a little more. We got some good kickoff cover work and good punt work again. We're continuing to install our schemes – it's day two of installation –we've installed through spring and through summer."
A big reason for the easy acclimation of the team stems from the fact so many players went through spring drills.
"That's the advantage of having so many players here in spring is that it's our third time to go through this with everybody that's going to play for us for the most part," said Hall. "That's a huge advantage for our program. I'm excited to get pads on tomorrow."
The Golden Eagle return for their third practice in skeletons Thursday morning.
Season tickets for the six Southern Miss home games can be purchased by going online at SouthernMissTickets.com, by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or by visiting the Pat Ferlise Ticket Office at the corner of 4th Street and Golden Eagle Way weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
